My teacher at the time introduced me to Porcelain On-glaze painting and contemporary Watercolour concentrating on design elements. We would incorporate this painting onto Float Glass, using porcelain paints. I was first introduced to Kiln formed glass about 25 years ago at the East Ivanhoe Gallery in Melbourne. This weekend hobby led me to explore other forms of art.
I trained in pastel and pencil mediums under the tuition of a Realist Artist. Further study of Life Drawing at TAFE, helped me learn the structure of things. After dabbling in Glass art on my own, I took the opportunity to learn more from a leading American Glass Artist holding courses in Melbourne, the first in 2011. I haven’t stopped playing, and learning, and loving this form of glass art. I have since undertaken further courses in glass casting and pate de verre. Recently I discovered Encaustic painting and cold wax painting. I love the instant colour and effect these mediums achieve. I joined Studio Forrest at the start of this year, and love the challenge of working with such a diverse group of people. My studio is in Kawarren, which is located in the Otways, in South West in Victoria. My work is currently on display in several galleries in Victoria, including Eagles Nest Gallery in Aireys Inlet. Several pieces of my glass and porcelain work have found their way overseas to Singapore, Hong Kong, Mexico and England. |
